WHY VALUES MATTER

We create immersive spaces for real encounters. We offer the change for reflection. We bring values to life.

MORE ABOUT THE MUSEUM

The Museum of Values makes values tangible – without categoriesing in right and wrong. It uses different formats to make values experienceable. Through our exhibitions, workshops and artistic approaches, we bring people into an exchange of values with themselves and others. To get an idea of how this works, we invite you to browse through the following pages.

THE IDEA

The Museum of Values is an exhibition intended to bring people together. It enables us to better understand our personal values through conversation and self-reflection. The concept behind the exhibition is the assumption that, within today’s society, values are no longer taken into account. In our view, this is demonstrated by the fact that there is a lack of places where such discourses can take place.

THE PROCEDURE

Share & Collect

DUOs form the core of the exhibition. One part of the DUO is a personal story that represents a certain value. The second part is an object that both plays role in that story, and also works as a witness to the story.

Explore & Experience

Each DUO offers a different perspective on a certain value. As the visitor walks through the exhibition they encounter different objects, through which the values become tangible by the telling of personal stories. The purpose isn’t to reaffirm existing ideas, but challenge and widen the perspective. Different DUOs addressing the same values may conflict, supporting an experienced-based understanding of values. The objects, in conjunction with the stories, will be perceived differently by each visitor.

Reflection & Abstraction

At the end of each exhibition, guests are invited to share their associations and reflections. These are then displayed and made visible to future visitors. In addition, we invite artists to create individual performances which aim to touch visitors on a physical level. This physical experience changes the approach to experiential learning.

THE STRUCTURE

The museum of values is always different, but the exhibition is based on a certain procedure. Our guests are guided through three different sections; each with the intention of opening their mind to a different interpretation of values, encourage new perspectives and stimulate discussion.

OPEN YOUR MIND

What do you bring with you? Every guest is asked to leave the stress of everyday life behind and be open to explore their own values.

EXPLORE WITH YOUR FEET

What do you take with you? With a free and open mind, the guests are asked to float through the exhibition of objects and read their stories. Each exhibit will have different perspectives on three different values.

REFLECT FROM YOUR HEART

What do you leave with? At the end of the exhibition, guests are invited to share their experiences with other guests. Guests can reflect on other experiences and begin to reflect on their own definition of individual values.
